Hey!
My name is Sasha. I live and work in San Francisco.
There are many ways to interpret the meaning of "Rocking California." We will call out a couple of ideas that will hopefully be fertile food for thought. The earthquakes that roll the state are one. Our popular culture's obsession with youth is another. And one can not forget to mention the natural beauty of the state. Of course a rocking horse was one of the interpretations of the meaning of the word "Dada." It was the early 20th century art movement that had laid the foundation for contemporary art and culture. It was certainly the inspiration for this pendant.
A little bit about me. I graduated with an art degree from UCLA in 1998. While there I made digital, video and graphite drawings. At the time digital art was not as established so the professors I tended to work with had background in performance, video and conceptual art. This has influenced my work and continues to inform what I make. I showed in a couple of student organized shows and have been in a couple of shows since then. Ages ago Southern Exposure showed one of my videos so they keep my name on their list of artist https://soex.org/artists. Around the same time one of my sculptures made from digital photographs got shown in a group show in Golden Gate park.
Lately I've gotten into 3D printing jewelry, using generative programs to create drawings as well manipulating digital photographs I've taken with software I write.
Lately I've taken some pictures of surfers. I feel like they best worked processed and turned to sort of graphite drawings.
Lately I've been using Python and some libraries to make drawings using simple formulas.
Lately I've been enjoying taking some black and white photos of buildings and public spaces.
And by the way the pendant is for sale. Please contact if you're interested in one.
